In my nascent participation with Paws for Life venture, I was asked “what does working with the dogs mean to you?” Simply lacking the Emotional Quotient (EQ) to describe the breadth or depth of feelings that previously lay dormant, I couldn’t answer then. More than a year later, I am still overwhelmed with the innate emotional connection that occurs with one (or 20) of these furry friends in my life. It is odd, but true, that these dogs can bring out our best character traits of humanity. I know that I am a better person because of them.
My natural state was once a bit dour. Now, my lungs are filled with laughter and my heart radiates with a warmth for others that has been absent longer than I’d care to admit. Each day I relish the opportunity to aid these wonderful animals in finding a better life. Paws for Life has afforded me this gift or “participation”.
