As a child, my dad purchased my first dog, “Casper.” Casper and I were the same age and inseparable until we moved into apartments that wouldn’t allow dogs. My dad sent him to live with my uncle, but Casper kept running away in an effort to find me. Sadly, he was captured by the pound and euthanized. That experience was so painful that I was unable to form a loving bond with another dog. Arguably, that same pain transferred into my adult relationships and it prevented me from developing meaningful bonds. I have worked incredibly hard on my rehabilitation and I believe PFL offers the powerful healing tools I need to avail myself to vulnerability. I can already see my self-confidence building through the training and team work required to b e a successful trainer. I’m here to rescue dogs, but this program is going to help rescue me, as well.
