Paws for Life K9 trainer, Stephen D.

Stephen

Occupation: Dog Trainer

location: Vacaville

My name is Stephen, I’m 52-year-old, and I have been incarcerated for 31-years. I know the value of having a loving dog in the home, and I heard about Paws For Life’s mission to rescue dogs and find them forever homes. Growing up, particularly when I was in junior high school, I experienced my share of bad days; however, no matter how bad those days were, my dog, Cidney, was there to wag away my troubles. I certainly didn’t need a lot of coaxing in order to to join a program that can provide a dog to a child in similar circumstances. Paws For Life is a wonderful way for me to give back, and also to rediscover my humanity in terms of serving others selflessly. I’m in the unique position of serving time while innocent, and PFL will help ensure that bitterness never enters my consciousness—my love for dogs and people will continue to transcend the injustice of walking through this environment as an innocent man.
