My name is Ruben and I have been incarcerated for 38-years! Needless to say, I have not had the opportunity to interact with dogs for nearly four-decades. Thanks to PFL, I’m not only able to be around our beautiful animals, I’m also able to learn more about myself. I’m normally a quiet person, but it is impossible to hide my joy while working with the dogs. Prison doesn’t afford men many opportunities to be part of something so positive; however, PFL is that rare diamond in the rough. I’m able to give back, instead of the ‘taking’ I once did, and that is a gift without equal.
