I cannot change the past but I am actively changing my future by changing myself. Being a part of PFL allows me to continue my personal transformation. My goal is to be unrecognizable from the man who first came to prison. I was a selfish individual and now I am a giver, whether through my daily job transcribing books into Braille for the Blind, or volunteering to change diapers and sit vigils with dying men at hospice.
Caring for a dog is my most treasured responsibility. I am so happy to wake up before the dog. My dog eats his meals before I do. I gladly assure all duties to care for my dog. PFL takes broken men and unwanted dogs and what is produced when they bond is a better whole.
I prepare my dog for his forever home by training him to be a good canine citizen or service dog. During this process I am overjoyed to have a constant companion – my dog goes to work with me, to groups, and to yard.
