I once thought of myself as a failure, but now I understand failure is fleeting and that failure is only truly failure when we give up and no longer continue to strive and try. PAWS for Life has afforded me the opportunity to make-up for past mistakes and failures. PFL has provided me a sound, solid and stable environment within these walls to live as a productive citizen in my prison community and to live my life in amends by producing quality service dogs, emotional support dogs, and facility dogs for those in need of assistance in their daily lives. Through programs like PAWS for Life, I have learned teamwork, community, purpose, empathy, that it’s not always about me and my needs, and how to live a pro-social life that is filled with understanding and love. Lastly, PFL has afforded me a legacy of not being remembered for the past deeds which led me here, but instead letting me be remembered for my current contributions and letting me become the man I truly want to be. Now that’s rehabilitation. Thank you.
