In other prison programs and self help groups, we spent our time talking about acquiring life skills, like patience, compassion, responsibility, work ethic and communication skills. In Paws for Life, we actually practice these things. Some of these dogs had tough lives and have forgotten how to be dogs, they need rehabilitation. In Paws for Life we come together as a team and work to teach them.

As we teach them tricks and help them reclaim their inner puppy they forgot, we get the better part of the deal: we reconnect with the inner humanity we’ve lost.

By saving dogs, we save ourselves.
