Occupation: Dog Trainer
location: CMF
My name is Clay Turner. I am 43-years old and have spent more than half my life in prison serving life. The majority of that time I have been in some of the worst places our prison system has to offer. Just existing with no hope, just waiting to die.
Five years ago I found out about Paws for Life and felt a strong pulling towards the program and the men in it. For the first time since committing my crime I felt hope, and a drive to live a positive life. PFL is a family, community, and a network that transcends being a prison program. The dogs are a Godsend to giving back my humanity. When I am with my dog I know that I am helping her be a beacon of love to her future forever family. I feel a connection to a community outside of prison, because I know I am giving back to society by helping my dog have a better life. I went from a dead end life to a purpose driven life. Paws for Life not only changed my life, it saved it.
