Get to Know Buttercup
|Female||6 years||94 lbs.||Motherly, Couch potato||CGC Certified|
Say hello to the most loving and affectionate girl around, Buttercup. She is a Boerbol (African Mastiff) who weighs in at 94lbs. We came across Buttercup as she was running alongside the hard shoulder of the fast lane on the 14 freeway. We jumped into action and managed to stop the traffic on the freeway! With the help of other drivers, we were able to catch her and take her to the local shelter. When they weighed her at the shelter, she was 30lbs below her average weight and looked like she had endured years of breeding. After her stray hold was up, we scooped her up and put her into our prison program.
She was very shutdown and quite for the first 3 weeks, then with the love and care that she received from her handlers she slowly opened up. She loves all the dogs in the program, especially the pups that are training for service dogs, her motherly instincts kick in when she is in the play yard with them all. Her best friend is Tiger, a handsome pit bull. Buttercup would make an excellent companion, especially with a senior person since she is so relaxed. Her team of trainers call her the “Granny”.
Buttercup is crate, leash and potty trained. She is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.
